Overheard In The Restaurant

My youngest turned nine Friday. We took her and a friend bowling and then to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. As we were waiting for our meal she was explaining to her friend her family tree.

"I'm part Irish, German, Country and Cherokee."

Not to be out done her friend replied, "I am part Italian, Country and just became part Irish because my aunt just married an Irish guy."

So using that line of thought: I am part Hillbilly and used to be part African American till My Sis got a divorce then she remarried and now I am also part Yankee.

I love it! I'm part Mexican, part redneck and part Tongan (my sis in-law married a New Zealander).

I adore kid logic. It never gets old.

If I am lyin' I'm dyin' this is the truth...I told my children forever that they were half Italian (thank you husband) and half Texan. I said that because I know I am from Texas, but because I am adopted I don't my real ancestry. They told me, one by one, that they thought that was true and until they told someone who corrected them they thought they were half Texan...oh,my the things Mothers do to injure our children.

Haha, I like how country is an assumed standard for both girls.

My auntie just adopted a dog...by that logic, I would be quite the mutt!
